I come from a family of artists. My grandfather built maquettes in Mexico and the story goes that he would fill up different rooms with tiny skyscrapers, city streets and tiny cars. My dad, Gerald Mendez is an illustrator, creative educator and an amazing airbrush artist. I made sure to keep art alive in my family, which led to my attendance at attended Art Center College of Design. After graduating in 2006, I have worked with notable companies such Disney, Wacom, TedX, Gymboree, Cherokee and many more. I am the founder of Little Rooftop Studio and with 9+ years of experience in the creative industry, I have been consistently praised as detail-oriented by co-workers, management and clients.
Over the years, I have worn lots of different creative hats, from graphic designer and art director, to creative consultant and educator. I don't consider myself as only a designer, illustrator, or consultant. I prefer to see myself as a visual chemist. Why do I say that? Because I'm not like other "creatives" who simply make pretty pictures. I combine all the right elements to craft captivating stories that help the client tell the right story for their audience. After all, design is only as important as the story that's being told.
